sYNCHRONOUS PAIRS
Jonic has been manufacturing single acting synchronous pairs for many years. Many manufacturers say they can produce synchronous cylinder pairs but very few have the experience of actually achieving it. Essentially they are two cylinders hydraulically linked so that when oil is fed into the master cylinder the master and slave cylinders move together at the same speed. Used to drive mechanisms from two points they allow the designer to use much lighter cheaper structures because the cylinders will always stay in synch regardless of any difference in the load on each cylinder. They are also more accurate in operation than expensive flow splitters.
Advantages | Disadvantages |
---|---|
Gives two seperate but linked forces. | Relies on an external force to return the cylinder |
More accurate than flow splitting. | More complex than standard cylinders. |
Incorporates automatic re-synchronisation on closing. |
